How to use the course site
To get the most out of the course site, for each unit, you should do the following.
- Familiarize yourself with the learning objectives for that unit.
- Start watching the lecture videos for that unit. The videos are short (always under 8 minutes), so try to watch them with your full attention.
- After each video, attempt the accompanying online quiz. The online quizzes can be taken as many times as you want (only the highest score counts), up until the due date. If you find the online quiz confusing, it probably means you should pay special attention to that topic. There are lots of places to get help with a topic: ask in class, ask on Piazza, come to office hours.
- When you are working on the worksheets, if you are stuck, try glancing over the list of topics covered in the videos, and see if there is something relevant that you want to rewatch. (These lists of topics should also be helpful when you are preparing for the exams.)
- Some worksheets will be submitted online. You can find the submission option from the Assignments page.
The course is ten total weeks, and we will cover eight units. Each unit will take approximately one week, and will usually have the following outline:
- A brief introduction to the unit during lecture on Friday.
- A worksheet handed out on Monday, to be worked on in groups of 1-3 students and turned in on Friday.
- A worksheet handed out on Wednesday, to be worked on in groups of 1-3 students and turned in on Friday.
- An in-class quiz on Friday.
Each unit also has the following online resources available on our course homepage:
- A list of learning objectives for the unit.
- A page containing the lecture videos for that unit as well as the online quizzes.
- A page listing some of the key topics covered in each video.
- A list of relevant due dates. (Some of the videos and online quizzes must be completed before Monday, others must be completed before Wednesday.)
