Course Syllabus

Welcome to the Illuminations Colloquium! This course is a key part of the Chancellor's Arts and Culture Initiative. Through the colloquium, you will have unique opportunities to explore the arts and culture on the UCI campus and at select locations in the region, including Segerstrom Hall, South Coast Rep, and Laguna Art Museum.

Course requirements:

1) Attend at least five events. You can select ANY EVENTS listed on the Illuminations calendar. I have selected a group of possible events and linked them to the Colloquium calendar, but you are not restricted to these events, nor do you need to attend all of them.

2) Write a brief review of the event (3-5 sentences) in the quiz linked to the event in the Colloquium calendar. If the event is not one of the events that I pre-selected on the Colloquium calendar, please make your comments under "Alternative Events." (Don't worry -- it's not really a quiz! It's an opportunity for you to reflect on your arts experiences.)

3) Due date: You do not need to complete the review on the day of the event (ignore "quiz due date"), but your thoughts will be fresher and more interesting if you write down your thoughts in the day or two after the event.

4) If you would like to attend an arts or cultural event that is not affiliated with Illuminations, just let me know in advance and you can count this event towards your five events.

That's it!! It's easy and fun. There are no class meetings outside of the events themselves. We will have an organizational meeting on Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 pm in our assigned classroom.
