In this class, the content videos will provide the broad framework for the information you need to know. To keep the videos short, we will regularly send you to find definitions and diagrams and figures in the textbook to fill in your notes. Therefore, a textbook is REQUIRED for this class.
We are using Pearson's Campbell Biology 12th Edition for our videos and notes and images. You can get a used book or e-book for this course (10th, 11th or 12th Edition). Mastering Biology access is NOT required.

For digital textbooks:
- Cheapest option for e-book alone: $9.99/month with 4 month minimum. Pearson website Links to an external site..
- The cheapest option for e-book plus study materials in Mastering Biology: $68.34/six months. You will purchase this through our class website. Click on the "MyLab and Mastering" link on the left.
- For people who need to purchase through the UCI Bookstore for financial aid reasons, you can get 6 months of access to the e-Text and Mastering: $94.71 (ISBN 9780137249091). Unfortunately, the bookstore access code is backordered. Do not purchase the access code from the bookstore if you can avoid it. See below for emergency two week access if you cannot avoid it.

For a paper textbook:
The publisher Pearson takes the 12th edition and makes an abbreviated version for UCI which contains ONLY the chapters needed for Bio93, this is the "custom" 7th Edition version of the textbook.
- The paper custom edition with only the relevant chapters is available for purchase at the UCI Bookstore for $120 (ISBN: 9780137206308).
This information is only relevant to Bio Sci 93 Lectures A and B. Other instructors for the other sections may require you to purchase access to Mastering Biology.
