🌐 Online Course Information
Course Location & Evaluation Elements: This course is entirely self-paced and hosted on the UCI Udemy Business platform. All course materials, including lectures, videos, websites, articles, assignments, resources, quizzes, and discussion boards, can be accessed online through the UCI Udemy and Canvas DataGPS sites.
Module Schedule: Course materials for each module will be accessible to students from the start of the course. Students can choose to complete each module at their own pace - there are no strict completion deadlines. However, students are encouraged to follow a regular schedule to ensure consistent progress and course completion.
Certification Requirements: While MAPSS completion is voluntary, certification for each track and the program, as a whole, requires track and course completion with a grade of 70% or higher. Upon successful completion, students will receive UCI ADC (Alternate Digital Credentials) badge certifications. (See bottom of syllabus for additional details.)

As an investment into the data driven student success initiative, UCI sees immense value in providing a top-tier data analytics certificate program to campus staff, faculty, and leadership. The MAPSS (UCI Compass Metrics & Analytics Promoting Student Success) Certificate Program will provide applicable, informative learning paths, organized by campus roles, utilizing the Udemy Business Learning platform. The courses will impart vital insights and skills that will aid members of each role in exponentially expanding the ability to perform in their current duties, while also providing enhancements for professional development / career path growth - at no cost to learners. Each MAPSS path will include courses in Data Literacy, Efficacy, Ethics, Data Analytics & Business Intelligence, Career Path Data Specialty, and provide examples of how data is being used in academia, and specifically at UCI.
The MAPSS (UCI Metrics & Analytics Promoting Student Success) Certificate Program provides a comprehensive learning path tailored to campus staff, faculty, and leadership roles at UCI. The program offers three main tracks and one supplemental track.

- Track 1: This is the first course in a series of three courses of the MAPSS Certificate Program.
- Track 2: This track is designed for those looking to advance their skills beyond Track 1, culminating in the development of citizen data scientists at UCI.
- Track 3: Focuses on enhancing role-specific skills, particularly for those involved in campus operations, instruction, business, and leadership roles.

Certificate Requirements
While MAPSS completion is voluntary, certification for each track and the program, as a whole, requires track and course completion with a grade of 70% or higher. MAPSS Track Requirements and Grading
The track grade(s) will be determined based on the following components:
- Udemy Course, Quiz, and Survey Completions (25%)
- Students must complete all assigned Udemy courses, associated quizzes, and pre/post surveys.
- Discussion Forum Participation (25%)
- Each track section will have 1-3 discussion assignments.
- For each discussion, students must submit one original entry and two replies to other students' posts.
- Full credit (100%) for each discussion requires completion of both the entry and replies.
- Final Exam (50%)
- The final exam consists of 25 questions.
- Question formats include multiple choice, true/false, computational, and numeric response.
- The exam will cover material from all track sections.
- A study guide will be provided.
MAPSS Program Requirements and Grading
The program grade will be determined based on the following components:
- Completion of Tracks 1 and 2, and at least one of the Track 3 components (0%)
- A score of 70% or better must be achieved on each.
- Completion of MAPSS Program Track
- Udemy Course, Quiz, and Survey Completions (25%)
- Students must complete all assigned Udemy courses, associated quizzes, and pre/post surveys.
- Discussion Forum Participation (25%)
- Program track will have 3 discussion assignments.

Grading Scale
- A: 90-100%
- B: 80-89%
- C: 70-79%
- D: 60-69%
- F: Below 60%
- Note: A minimum grade of 70% (C) is required for certification.
Final Exam Question Types
- Multiple Choice: These questions assess understanding of key concepts. Students select the most appropriate answer from provided options.
- True/False: Students evaluate the accuracy of statements related to course content and requirements.
- Computational: These questions focus on data-driven decision-making. Students solve problems, analyze data, and apply mathematical and logical reasoning skills.
- Numeric Response: Students provide specific numerical answers related to course content, statistics, or data analysis.
Academic Integrity
- Students are expected to adhere to UCI's academic integrity policies. Any form of cheating or plagiarism will result in disciplinary action, which may include course failure or program dismissal.

- Students requiring accommodation should contact the UCI Disability Services Center within the first two weeks of the course to ensure appropriate arrangements can be made.
Technical Requirements
- Udemy Account: Students must have access to an active Udemy account, as the entire course is hosted on the Udemy platform.
- Web Browser: A modern web browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge) is required to access the course materials, view videos, and participate in quizzes and discussions.
- Optional Data Tools: While not mandatory, students interested in deeper data analysis may benefit from access to software tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel. These tools can be helpful for creating data visualizations and working with real-world data.
