Course objectives: This course aims to help students identify, cultivate and practice relevant soft skills applicable to jobs in mathematics and science. The focus will be on career readiness, how to market oneself to future employers, and what to expect from the professional world. The course will be delivered in a colloquium setting, and brings various guest speakers from industry, finance, academia, the Physical Sciences Undergraduate Mentoring Program, UCI campus offices, and more. Undergraduate Physical Sciences majors have first priority for enrollment.

Grading
:
The course is offered for P/NP only and is 1.5 units of Workload Credit. Passing the course requires attending at least 8 weekly meetings, and submitting all written assignments (summary of article readings, career readiness plan of action). Participation during in-class discussions is expected.

Honesty:
Academic Honesty is a requirement for passing this class. While collaboration is expected and encouraged, written work is an individual effort. Copying from any portion of the written work from other students is not allowed and constitutes academic dishonesty.
