Course Information:

  • Text: A Course in Functional Analysis (2007 Edition) by John Conway

  • Course Description: We will cover most of Chapter IX in Conway on the Spectral Theorem for Normal Operators.  Then depending on the interests of the students, we might cover some material on unbounded operators as well as a survey of modern operator algebra theory.

  • Class Meetings: The class meets twice a week:  Tuesday and Thursday, 11-12:20 in RH440R.

  • Grading will be based solely on one in-class presentation.  The presentation will be half an hour long and will preferably be a Beamer presentation.  Please contact me by Week 3 of the quarter to let me know what you plan on presenting.
