NPR  Radio Segment

Do you think that the law instilled negative views of illegal immigrants in the community (much the way the teacher instilled views in the brown eye, blue eyes video) or were these views that people already had and the law simply reinforced them and gave an excuse to act out on them?

Labor Queues / Job Queues

Interestingly, opposite genders didn’t have much problems with each other in this article. Black and white women were ok with Latinos and cast them with the same stereotypes as the employers did. Black males were ok with Latinas entering the workforce and there was even some insinuation of romantic interest. Why do you think this is?

SEE NO SPANISH Article

What stood out to me in this article is that it is the written and not so much the spoken form of Spanish that induces the noted threat response in people. Why do you think seeing it in writing generates this type of response as opposed to just hearing it in day to day life?

Tracking Intergenerational Progress / Problem of Ethnic Attrition

I think an important question to ask is, why are later Latino/Hispanic  generations disassociating themselves from this part of their heritage? This seems to be the same case that happened with Anglo Americans; they are no longer very separated by their European roots and lean more towards being “American” or simply “white”. Is this simply assimilation at work? Or are there social factors, that we've studied, that lead certain groups to either disassociate or associate more with a certain part of their ethnic background as we saw in this article between Hispanics and Asians?
