Critical Reading (CR) Reflective Exercise #10

Prompt - Assess how you’ve done in the class. Did the class meet your expectations? What will you remember learning? What did you like most and least? How can this class be improved? (No, we can’t give you less reading or writing). How did the theme go? Can you suggest some possible themes for the future?

I feel as though I have met my expectations for this class. :) I will definitely remember learning all about the Western genre and the stereotypical information I grew up learning, versus the factual and evident information about the aspect. I really liked collaborating with my peers and and gaining a deep enough understanding of the assignments I had to complete. There was not much I did not like about the class, so I don't really have anything to say about that. This class can be improved by providing the students with either more effective feedback on their work, or more guidance with how certain assignment are to be done (for example: I know some students are shy and do not like talking one on one with professors, so maybe more elaborate instructions or examples on assignment prompts could be helpful). The theme was certainly a very interesting topic. Never in my life would I have even been tempted to read or watch articles regarding the Western genre, but I am very glad I did. I think it really allowed myself to grow and be more open to things I may not normally be intrigued in. A possible theme for the future could be superheroes. I feel like a lot of students are into that type of thing (such as the Marvel or DC universe), however, the only issue would be the fact that I don't think there are many literary works regarding that topic.
