Winter Quarter 2016
University of California, Irvine

Description

This seminar examines computer programming principles and techniques crucial to the development of applications for algorithmic composition, digital audio signal processing, interactive computer-mediated performance, and multimedia.

Requirements

• Participation in at least 90% of all class sessions.
• Timely completion of assignments (reading, writing, programming)
• Completion of the assigned final artistic programming project

Grading

Each of the course requirements must be fulfilled in order to receive a passing grade. The quality of the work will be evaluated based on the significance of each student's contribution to group efforts (class discussions) and the completeness and originality of solo efforts (presentations and assignments).

To receive full credit, students must hand assignments in at the scheduled due time. If a student is unable to complete the assignment on time for a legitimate reason (e.g., illness), s/he must provide written documentation of the reason (e.g., a doctor’s statement) in order to receive full credit for the late assignment. Late assignments will be accepted in the subsequent class session for a reduced grade. Assignments handed in later than that will not be given credit.

Final Exam

The final exam for the course will be held Tuesday March 15, 2015, 10:30-12:30 in Room 216 of the Music and Media Building.
