Week 2: Intro to Max

• Start by viewing lessons 1, 2, and 3 of the YouTube playlist "Max Intro for Beginners Links to an external site." made by UCI Music professor Mari Kimura. Follow along, recreating the programs in the videos in Max on your own computer.

• Then do Max Tutorials 1 to 7 in the Max application itself. (In Max, choose Reference from the Help menu, click on the Home icon, then click on Max Tutorials, read the tutorials and open the accompanying patches.)

• Then look at the self-quiz in lesson 1 of "Introduction to Max and MSP Links to an external site.".

• Study the example (and text) titled "Open a sound file and play it" in the Max Cookbook. See if you can answer some of the hypothetical questions posed on that page by researching the objects mentioned and trying it yourself.
