Instructions
Brief Instructions:
This is a closed book, closed notes, no-help-of-any-kind allowed exam. No headphones or smart watches or calculators are allowed. No hats or hoodies, please. You will also need to show your cellphone to the camera, walk three steps behind you, and place your cellphone on the floor three feet behind you, all while on camera.
This is a two-part midterm exam; the first part is done entirely within the Canvas quiz, and for the second part you will find the four (4) problems in the Canvas quiz (clearly labeled), but you will write the answers on a blank sheet of paper (while remaining in the Canvas quiz using Respondus). Once you are finished with everything (and within the 120-minute timeframe of the exam), you must show your handwritten answers to the camera, submit your quiz to Canvas and exit Respondus. Then retrieve your phone, scan your written/drawn answers, and upload the file (AS A SINGLE PDF) to Gradescope in the "Section A Final Exam" assignment. You will have 10 minutes from the time that you logout of the Canvas quiz (these times are recorded) to upload the file. You must stay in Canvas/Respondus the whole time you are writing your answers. MAKE SURE that you assign page numbers in Gradescope for both questions (even if they are on the same page). MAKE SURE that you write the version number for each problem.
Final Exam Requirements:
- You are allowed a pencil or pen, eraser, four (4) blank sheets of paper (two are for scratch paper, two are for the written part of the exam). This is a closed note, closed book, no phone, no calculators, no watches, no headphones, no-help-from-anyone, no-giving-help-to-anyone test. Molecular models are not required, nor are they allowed.
- You must show both sides of your blank sheets of paper during the environment check. You must also show your phone, turn and walk three steps behind you, and place your phone on the floor, all while on camera as part of the environment check.
Important Information:
- There is an academic honesty question at the top of the canvas quiz, after the periodic table. You must accept the terms, or you will lose points, because it is critical to having a fair exam.
- There is an open pdf with a periodic table at the beginning of this exam, and an open pdf at the end of the exam with images from every problem in case the images are not loading in your exam.
- Showing your work that will be scanned and uploaded to Gradescope is a critical component of academic honesty. If we find that you did not do so, you will lose 10 points automatically. Keep track of your time.
- Please note: Canvas keeps a log of all of your interactions with your computer. Canvas saves work after every question, and if you lose internet it will also save work completed. It will also auto-submit your exam at the time it is due if you don't submit.
