UCI Libraries Digital Sandbox

Getting Started

About the Digital Sandbox

UCI Libraries’ Digital Sandbox Service is a fully hosted platform that researchers can use to explore specialized software applications for digital projects. The Digital Sandbox is ideal for UCI researchers (including faculty, students and staff) who want to:

  • Build and test tools for a short to medium term digital project
  • Decide whether or not certain software is right for their needs
  • Scope out a project that can later be moved on to a permanent hosting solution
  • Collaborate with peers or students

The Digital Sandbox provides access to dozens of fully functional applications including:

  • Omeka Classic
  • Omeka S
  • Scalar
  • Mukurtu
  • Pressbooks
  • and more!

UCI researchers using the Libraries’ Digital Sandbox are also a part of a supportive community of users who have access to training materials and tutorials, can attend office hours and user check-ins, and are invited to share what they know with others.
