Hello, my name is Ann Liu. I am currently a first-year undergraduate studying Business Economics at University of California, Irvine. As my freshmen year of college is coming to an end, I’m glad to say Writing 39C was the most impactful, noteworthy and remarkable class I’ve taken as it offered me complete new perspectives and practical skills. To document this meaningful process, my portfolio will provide insights into my gradual progression of developing myself as a better writer and learner.

Surprisingly, in the beginning of this quarter, I did not look forward to taking this course at all and wished to get over with it as soon as I can. Writing has always been my worst and most dreaded subject as I am not so much an literal person. The research aspect of this course was new to me as my past writing experiences have all revolved around fiction analysis.  Yet, over the course of this subject, I developed passion for research and arguments as I am no longer analyzing and examining the arguments of other scholars, but becoming one myself. Writing 39C taught me important skills that I can not only apply in this course, but in my other classes as well as college education often revolves around researching.

My E-portfolio is composed of three main categories: Reflective Introduction, Historical Conversations Project (HCP), and Advocacy Project (ADP). The Reflective Introduction section examines my improvement as a better researcher and writer throughout the composing and editing process of my two main research paper, the Historical Conversation Project (HCP) and the Advocacy Project (ADP). The latter two sections will contain the the final versions of my two main papers along with drafts, feedbacks, and peer reviews that reflects my gradual process of shaping my final products.
