Use of Secondary Source

Sometimes, it is necessary to include a secondary source within a body paragraph to increase credibility as a writer as well as to make the essay more coherent. I did this within the second paragraph of my RIP essay, which can be seen here, when I frame and quote Craig Smith of Expanded Ramblings.

"According to Craig Smith of Expanded Ramblings, fifty percent of Buzzfeed users are between eighteen and thirty-four years old while seventy-five percent of traffic comes from social media (1)."

I use this source within the second paragraph of my RIP essay, which discusses the demographics and psychographic of my intended audience. To increase my ethos as an academic writer, it was important for me to include this statistic from a credible source rather than just assuming that most Buzzfeed users were teenagers and young adults. Doing this also increased the flow of my paragraph, which, in turn, makes the whole essay more coherent.
