This image includes a few of the different indigenous groups within our world. However, do not let this limit the spectrum of indigeous people throughout the world. Often times one can limit oneself to view indigenous people as "historical" when they are present within our world of today. Thus one cannot allow this image to  suffice as evidence of all indigenous people and rather begin to serve as a beginning piece to discuss issues of indigenous groups. One must learn that indigenous people are in all aspects of our lives. Often times as a society we neglect their presence as one has stereotypes which we expect indigenous people to fit, however, one must note they are our lawyers, doctors, engineers, caregivers, and a serve in a plethora of other careers beyond our limited scope and perspective.

Welcome to my portfolio for the course Writing 39B!
Within this portfolio you should expect to find both my rhetorical analysis essay as well as my Rhetoric-In-Practice project. These two pieces of writing are centered around the learning of indigenous people. My rhetorical analysis essay is a research based document that is centered around the fictional novel, The Heirs of Columbus, by Gerald Vizenor. My R.I.P. project is aimed to discuss the impacts of cultural appropriation committed by influencing figures in society in order to bring to the attention of women in their twenties receptive to learning about how to respect other cultures the misconstrued message they are sending to others when they wrongly appropriate a culture and then encourage these women to think in depth about what they wear and what objects they purchase.

However, a vast portion of this portfolio is to portray a rhetorical analysis of my growth and development of my reading, writing, and research skills in a nuanced form. Moreover, it is centered around creating a nuanced view of skills that I have learned that I can take beyond the classroom and put into practice in real-world situations.

Rhetoric is the "art of persuasion" and throughout this portfolio you can find the skills that I have enhanced and skills that were already well established in order to develop my art of persuasion.
