This homework is a preliminary search on the HCP topic. At this homework, I started to research the resource of this topic, video games. At this homework, I researched the resources by my interested, I researched the paid of video games' players, and why they can earn too much money, and also I researched the affected of video games to children and teens. The reason I researched these three topics was that I heard many news of e-sports players, the news said this job was high paid and also was the dream job of many young people, so I wanted to know how and why they can earn too much money. And in the HCP final draft, the topic I chose was the e-sports.

Preliminary Research and Source Evaluation

       Reference for research #1

Zoia, C. (2014). This guy makes Millions playing video games on YouTube. . Retrieved from http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/03/this-guy-makes-millions-playing-video-games-on-youtube/284402/

I am really interested in what kinds of people could be successful in Video Games area, so I did this research in Internet. In this source, I found that the most popular people in YouTube is not the famous singer or dancer, is a 24 years old boy who play games in YouTube. the author's main point is talking about the most famous person in YouTube, and what is his job.  What he do is like showing other people his playing video, "for instance, he plays the Xbox Indie game “Techno Kitten Adventure,” helping a feline avatar navigate dangerous terrain filled with unicorns and narwhals, and shrieking in frustration each time his cat crashes into an obstacle"(paragraph #2) This situations made him get the most subscribers in YouTube. The reason I think this article is credibility is the author uses the real examples, even I did not check that in YouTube, but I thought the author should not lie, it was very easy to nail a lie like this. And this article was written in 2014, it was just 3 years before, so I think the information was not out of date. I think this article could be a good resource for my future paper, because it is a good example for a successful game player, and this person's experience I think is similar to many game players. In my country, there are many streaming plat forms, and many game players could earn several millions from that.

Paturel, S, A. M., & H, M. P. (2014). Neurology now: Game theory: How do video games affect the developing brains of children and teens? -- American academy of Neurology. Retrieved July 4, 2016, from https://patients.aan.com/resources/neurologynow/index.cfm?event=home.showArticle&id=ovid.com%3A%2Fbib%2Fovftdb%2F01222928-201410030-00017#ArticleTop

In the next, I want to know the affect from video games, because I could always hear some voices say that playing games could be helpful for children's brains grow, but I am not sure about that, so I did some research for this question. In this article, it says, people who playing too much computer games will influence their brains and make them become less delicacy for their brains. This article likes a academic article, the author's main point is playing too much time games will influence their brain and make them become less delicacy for their brains. Honestly, I think this article is credibility, but I do not know how to prove that. From the example and scientific evidences, I trust it. There is a real experience for a student," “I never saw my real friends. I gained weight, became lazy, and spent nearly all of my time slumped over my computer,” says Rosner, who played up to 18 hours a day, every day, for nearly two years." (paragraph#2)This experience shows us the influence for playing computer games. From my personal experience, I think this example could be true. I had the experience that playing games for more than 10 hours a day and continue this lives for about half month, that made me still in games' lives, and some time I could not go back to the real lives quickly. I think this article I may use in my future essay, because it says the bad influence for playing too much video games. Even thought games have many positive influence, but playing too much games still will hurt ourselves.

      Reference for research#3

Russell, K. (2013). The highest-paid professional video Gamers in the world. Retrieved July 4, 2016, from Business Insider, http://www.businessinsider.com/the-highest-paid-professional-gamers-2013-7

This resource is similar to research 1, because I really interest in why the games players could earn so much money. In this article, it says about the earning for professional players. The reason game players could get so much profit is they have earnings from competitive gaming, and also they have profit from streaming like Twitch." e-Sports Earnings has ranked the 100 players with the highest overall earnings from competitive gaming. Over 60 gamers have earned over $100,000 in prize money."(paragraph#4) So in my opinion, the games players get profit from game competitions and streaming. These information is credible. In my country's website, like google, I always could see some article talks about the professional players' profit, and what cars they bought, and the news about them. These information I think I will use in the future essay, because I think I will use these information to show that the productions for games are fast growing in the recent years, so these high earning people should be good examples.
