The RA was intimidating at first. I wasn't confident in my writing skills, and I thought I wasn't able to get the grade I wanted. Back in high school, I always got a lower grade than I wanted on my essays, but I didn't care for improvement as much as I should have because there were other assignments that would balance out my mediocre essay grade. But things are different in college. Now one paper is worth a lot more of my grade, so I wanted to do well. I stayed up late into the night multiple times trying to write the perfect draft. Soon I realized that I didn't have to do that because I could always revise later. That's what rough drafts are for. The creativity in the RA gave me the freedom to write about what I wanted, which was new to me. Writing this RA wasn't as dreadful as other essays in the past, even if I wasn't used to writing 7 or 8 paged essays. I had so much I wanted to say, which was a first for me. I remembered how to write again, and I learned how to analyze rhetoric. I understood what rhetoric was and how it affects a piece of writing. The gradual process for writing this paper helped break my procrastination habits a little (though I still put off the drafts to the last minute, but at least that's better than writing the entire essay in a night). I worked hard on this essay, and I was pleased with the grade I received. High school Fei would be proud.
