Here is my introductory paragraph for my Midterm Review! Please download the full file (with images) below!

In the start of the class and the introduction to this project, I had little to no idea of what topic I wished to pursue in the weeks that would follow. I became a bit familiar with the expectations as we began researching our individual topics. I primarily used a category based method of research that covered a good amount of what I wanted to cover in my Context Project. These could be seen in the form of my Research Questions, which I proposed before I began researching to better center my research; they also became the factors behind choosing which branches of black Americans in healthcare I wanted to further pursue. The main categories I had chosen to do most of the research in were the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, distrust of healthcare from black Americans, and consequences of the study. Primarily, my sources were located in Academic Search Complete (Ebsco), CQ Researcher, and Google Scholar which were given to me during the in-class library session. From there, I compiled possible documents under each category that I had skimmed through by downloading PDFs for each source so that I could easily access them through my Google Drive. I consulted with The 1619 Project’s articles regarding black Americans in healthcare to get a sense of what they had written or done to place the issue at hand in contemporary context. After reading through the sources chosen for my research, I took the required amount of primary and secondary sources to further analyze and annotate. These were the sources that I believed to be most useful to my essay, which I later found out was flawed. I took care to annotate sources that centered on the opinions of real people towards both Tuskegee and the state of healthcare today for minorities, picking quotations that would give more impact to the topic I was writing about. I knew that I did not want to provide a general account of the situation but rather an account that had emotional value.
