Multimodal Learning: What Is It and How Can You Use It to Benefit Your Students?

Creating a multi-modal composition has definitely helped me articulate my ideas and understanding of the genre conventions. Firstly, I am able to freely express my ideas through the use of pictures, hyperlinks, and videos. Personally, since my analysis is still a work in progress, I am able to better project what I am trying to say through the use of multimodality, you can see that in my Imitation Project. I have used images, videos, and links to help clarify how my Genre model fits the Suburban Gothic genre. I chose the multimodal image components because images say a lot of things, even without the need for words explaining them. I carefully selected specific images so that it strictly connects to what I am talking about, or connects to my genre model. Since my genre model was about a videogame, a video would serve much better than reading an entire narration of what was happening. Likewise, for the use of links, I can better connect to what I was saying by the use of the links. The use of links helped me project what I was trying to connect from my genre model to the Gothic genre. With the use of these three multimodal elements, I can say that I had a successful paper and I conveyed what I was trying to the audience perfectly.
