Jixiang Xu - Writing 39C ePortfolio

Welcome to my Writing 39C ePortfolio. My name is Jixiang Xu, a first-year physics major student. For this 2022 Spring, our class's theme is "New Tech, Failed Fixes." Because of the increasing public attention to the issue of systemic racism in our society, I intended to research the topic of "Algorithmic Discrimination," and more specifically how Facebook's ad algorithm had impacted its Young African Americans Users (more details are in my final Context Project). In my following Advocacy Project, I researched the ongoing debates around the potential solutions to such issues and comes up with my position in supporting one of them. I will be discussing more of my gains in this class in the section of Reflective Introduction, so if you are interested, please go check it out.
