When I first though of a topic for the HCP, I wasn't sure where to start with the writing since the due dates for the drafts seemed to come so quickly. This exercise was very helpful in starting the HCP paper because I was able to use it as an outline of the final draft. The first part of it, the free-write, allowed me to think about what ideas interested me and what ideas I wanted to focus on. The second part of the exercise was a way for me to think about the questions I wanted my paper to answer, what kinds of information I had, and what I needed to research. I was able to use this part to begin writing my claims and arguments which led to the last part, which was the outline, that helped me set up my first draft of the HCP.
