My central strategy for writing is to read the prompt and write down a short idea, then search the Internet for relevant information, and then write a draft based on it. Finally, I slowly polish up the draft to get my final work.

I learned it gradually in my high school writing and became better at it in my college writing classes. I learned it through many writing exercises. I found that if I didn't follow the steps, my writing would become messy and uncentered. It could easily get off-topic.

Yes, my central strategy would change over time. One of the most impactful experiences I had was writing for a project in Writing 39B last academic quarter. At that time, I was in a hurry to write the project and did not read the prompt carefully. As a result, my entire 2000-word essay was completely off-topic. I had to rewrite it. So since then, I have changed my central strategy: the first step is always to read the prompt before anything else.

In Writing 39C, I expect that I can improve on these central strategies while still following them. Because I understand that a good strategy is not set in stone, it should be able to change for the better. The change in my strategy shows that I did learn something new.

For example, when I studied AC ENG 20B in my freshman year, I hadn't developed such a strategy. I would just write wherever I wanted, with no strategy at all. And after one academic quarter of practice, I got it. I would write an outline first, instead of writing in a scattered manner.

All in all, I hope to become a better me as a writer in Writing 39C. I have always enjoyed writing, but since English is not my native language, I need to put in more effort to get where I am going. I will continue to work hard.
