The RIP Proposal is fundamental to my evolution as a writer, because it was the first time I could apply my newfound knowledge of audience. Now that I had chosen a specific audience, I had to adjust my rhetoric to cater to that audience. I came to the conclusion, that the purpose and medium of your writing determines your audience, and your audience determines the rhetoric used in your text. Rhetoric of course then defines you as a rhetor, and your writing can later be analyzed by someone else, and this process can be studied in order to learn from it. This conclusion of rhetoric served as almost a guideline for me every time I wrote something. Applying my knowledge and creating something really gave me first hand experience about the effectiveness of catering to your audience. I was coming up with all kinds of awesome rhetoric to appeal to my audience's political views, social views, relatability, etc.. I came up with so many rhetorical strategies specific to my audience, that I couldn't include them all. This was revolutionary to me and I truly felt I had taken a big leap forward with my writing skills. I will continue to apply these guidelines for my future writings, and hopefully I will be just as successful.
