Initially, the RIP Project seemed very complicating because of all of the components that were included. It required us to be creative and I lack creativity. I like to be told what to do and be given a certain prompt, but this was not the case with our RIP. After doing the practice mini-RIP activity in class, I had a small idea of what to do and what to include within the project, but was still unsure of how I was suppose to come up with everything on my own. As I looked at example projects, I instantly thought of the message I wanted to convey and why I wanted to do that: animals have feelings too and to stop animal cruelty in the makeup industry. After identifying my message, purpose, audience, and context, I was confused as to what my genre would be. I knew I wanted it to be published on a website that targets members of the beauty community, but I didn't know which one. I discovered my genre right before starting my rough draft; I went through many different beauty oriented websites, but found nothing. I was scrolling through my Snapchat stories when Cosmopolitan.com showed up advertising one of its articles.

Though I enjoyed creating this project more than writing the RA, there were still some difficulties I faced. My project is on animal cruelty that occurs in the cosmetic industry. I chose this topic because I know many people who say they don't support animal cruelty, but use products from companies who do support animal-cruelty and are not cruelty-free. This forced my article to have a very broad set of audience due to it being directed toward everyone who applies makeup on themselves and purchases makeup. In my project toward the end, I targeted one specific audience: pet owners. I did that to appeal to their sympathetic emotions because they are the ones who would truly understand what it is like to have their pets go through something that is against their will or that will lead them to suffer and eventually die. However, the rest of my essay focuses on everyone within the makeup and cosmetic community. I also provided some statistics that were found regarding to how many rabbits die each year and asked many rhetorical questions which were directed to everyone's emotions forcing them to feel guilty, sympathetic, and disgusted at the companies for putting them through such cruelty.

I found the RIP Project as a break from the RA because the RA wasn't as fun to do. I never liked engaging in research because it forces me to think outside of the box, but this project made me realize that I can learn so much even if it's researching one specific topic. As I was doing research for how many rabbits suffer per year, I found out some interesting facts about how rabbits are taken in, why it's them over other species, and what types of tests are done on them. I not only learned what happens to rabbits in the makeup community, but I also learned what happens to them in other fields of research and experiment.
