Reflection:

We were assigned to complete these two assignments through canvas and when I did the second one, I thought it was similar to the previous one. It really wasn’t as similar as I thought it was because these assignments came in handy for me to use to continue my success through the entire RIP project. Through these assignments, I was able to successfully find my audience, message, and purpose. I needed to have a strong idea for each of these categories so that I could point out in my RIP assignment that it is a meaningful message through a creative project. I came to a realization that there is a reason as to why the analysis of audience, message, and purpose is important. These things play a big role as to what message I am putting out, how I am doing it, why exactly I chose it, and to who I am addressing the message to. Every single choice I made in this project had to have a good purpose as to why I included it. Therefore, I was able to analyze my audience, message, and purpose to a greater and extent.

Below I included my answers to the questions I was asked so that these things could be focused on and I made sure to get into details to emphasize my answers.

RIP Audience Analysis:

  1. What are the demographics of your audience?

The demographics of my audience is the age range of pre teens— young adults.

  1. What are the activities of your audience?

The activities of my audience is bullying and making unnecessary posts publicly on media toward other individuals.

  1. What are the interests of your audience?

The interests of my audience are social media, technology. Things like texting, emailing, chatting, and being on social media.

  1. What are the opinions of your audience?

The opinions of my audience is that cyberbullying is acceptable because they have the freedom to post or send what they want when they feel like it. They also feel like talking down on someone makes them feel more superior in a way.

  1. What might make your audience adversarial?

My audience might feel like it does not matter because “no one” will find out that it was them who sent/posted the bullying content. That makes them think that cyberbullying is okay and not a serious issue.

  1. What are the means of persuasion that you might use to convince your audience of your particular message?

I will allow them to realize how cyberbullying makes the person who is being attacked feel. I will also allow them to be alert of how bad/wrong they make themselves look on the media.

  1. What samples and research did you use for your answers? Put your works cited here.

  1. Add an annotation of two sources in your works cited above. Pick two you think might actually use in your RIP Essay.

I chose this example because I feel like this presentation of a how-to be successful guide would actually catch a person who is in need of success’ attention. It uses pictures, short statements, and provides ways for the audience to be persuaded on the information that is given.

I will most likely use this source to use in my RIP essay because I found a lot of interesting and useful information to include in my how-to guide. Also, it provides me with plenty information based on my main topic which is cyberbullying. I will also find other sources that provide me with logic and statistics on cyberbullying to include in my how-to guide.

RIP Message and Purpose Analysis:

  1. What is your message?

My message revolves around the idea that we need to raise awareness about the wrongness of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a serious problem in this society on social media. My message is basically conveying that the behavior of cyberbullying should not be acceptable and should be stopped.

  1. Why is this your message?

This is my message because social media has changed society tremendously. Also because social media is so used now these days by the years of young teens and above. Cyberbullying has involved people who begin as good friends and then end up having problems and choose to post their business on social media and insult each other. It mostly starts off when people are close friends then they come upon some conflict of drama which causes them to hate each other. Once this happens, they choose to be immature and post their problems on social media sending hate messages, hatred posts, tweets, etc. and it starts a trend where people are just continuing to post inappropriate and disrespectful comments.

  1. What engages you about this topic?

What engages me about this topic is that I have personally witnessed cyberbullying on almost all my social media. I feel like I could send a valuable message of how people can prevent it from happening or stop themselves from doing so. Also, since it is a creative project I feel like I can use some imaginative descriptions along with sending a real life message.

  1. What engages your audience about this topic?

My audience in this topic is teenagers who are “fake friends” mainly in their teenage years. I am going to point out specific ways of how cyber bullying occurs and I am also going to relate to real life situations of cyber bullies. The how to guide will provide them with both ways to stop cyber bullying and I will also include ways of how to cyber bully to point out that it is a cruel action. My audience of

  1. Why does this matter?

This matters because we need positivity in this world rather than conflict. There should be a way to inform everyone that cyberbullying is not acceptable and is a serious problem. It could happen through a text, e-mail, message, or in a post online. These are things people send out on a daily basis. I feel like it should definitely matter because things like this can affect an individual’s mental health. It can cause them to hate themselves for being talked down on. It should be brought to awareness so that it does not continue to happen and social media can feel like a

  1. What are you new ideas (insights) in terms of this message? How are you thinking about this differently than others?

My new ideas are to make teenagers stop being so insecure about themselves and hiding behind a screen posting disrespectful comments, pictures, posts, etc. toward others. I am thinking about this differently because I really want to include a way where the “talking snakes” come into play.

  1. Is your message arguable? Complex?

My message is not arguable because I feel like cyberbullying should not be acceptable in any cases and it is a serious problem in society.

  1. What is your purpose? Why?

My purpose is to prevent cyberbullying. This is because it is a serious problem and needs to be brought to attention. No one should feel in danger on the media.

  1. How do you think you'll persuade your audience of that purpose?

I will persuade them by using pathos, statistics and by being creative in my how-to guide.
