During my time in my writing classes at UCI, I must say that my writing capabilities have drastically improved. I think that Writing 39B is my favorite writing class thus far. With that being said, this class in particular influenced my ability to make effective choices and how I approach my writing assignments in other classes. Since I was enrolled in Sociology 62 and had to do discussion posts and replies, I applied knowledge that I gained from the Writing 39 series throughout each discussion post and reply. By that, I mean critical and analytical thinking of the articles that we were given. For example, in my 39B class, we were supposed to explain how rhetorical choices connected to the Suburban Gothic genre. Likewise in my Sociology class, we were given a prompt for each discussion and how the article connects to the prompt. Here is an example, for my Week 9 Discussion, we were asked If same-sex couples with children were to marry, how might it impact the children? In this discussion, we were given three articles and four video lessons, and in these sources given, I was able to decipher the readings and apply analytical knowledge as to how it will connect to the prompt, like how will this text apply to how it will impact the children, etc., etc.
