Buzzfeed quizzes are typically for people between the ages of 18 and 34. Because of this, the use of slang is geared more toward teenagers and young adults. I incorporate some slang into my quiz, which can be seen below:

I use words like "cool" and "dude" throughout the question. I also say that if "you're this badass" you probably listen to N.W.A and "eat raw eggs for breakfast". N.W.A was a rap group that most teenagers and young adults would know about, and eating raw eggs is known to be hard on the stomach, so doing this would take great strength. Saying these phrases would be appealing to an audience who grew up saying them. It also generates a sense of personalization amongst the quiz, as if suggesting that the quiz was created for the individual taking it. Successfully embedding the use of slang gave my quiz credibility within the targeted audience and provided humor. This, in turn, would generate more traffic to the website, suggesting that the use of this rhetoric was advantageous.
