Clashing of Genres

One thing that was unique to my quiz that Buzzfeed does not typically do is clash multiple genres with the intent to inform the audience of a particular message or idea. In this case, I mixed the noir convention of a hardboiled detective with the design and slang of a Buzzfeed quiz, seen below after reading the questions and looking at the Twitter feed and advertisements:

The quiz as a whole is deciding whether or not someone "has what it takes" to be a hardboiled detective. Every advertisement as well as the Twitter sidebar incorporates noir into the page in some way. Doing this, and combining it with the layout and dialogue of a typical Buzzfeed quiz causes the target audience (teenagers and young adults) to indirectly become aware of noir. This project's goal was to manipulate some kind of genre or text, and incorporate it into the genre of the class (which was noir). I did this, and therefore succeeded in blending two different genres into one while appealing to a desired audience.
