39C HCP Proposal Peer Review - Genesis Ruth Sanchez's proposal.

Basics
Does your partner’s tentative topic sound feasible? Some questions to figure this out…do you think they will be able to find enough research? Is the counterargument too strong? Is it too broad/big? Is it too narrow? Or is it just right? Help them out or tell them they are doing great.
The tentative topic is a good topic to start with, it might sound a little too broad but my partner narrows it down to how "video game addiction affects children's social skills"
Does the thesis statement tell us what the problem is and why it’s important? Does it go beyond this and relate to history and/or a root cause? What recommendations can you make to them about their thesis?
The thesis is quite straight forward to the point to be made, which is good. Though it hasn't reach the root cause to the problem just yet, it's a good starting point, which can lead to a lot of researching through the paper.
Scope
Do you get the sense that your partner has done enough research to know who, what, where, and when they are going to write about? If not, can you offer any specific insight into what they should look into? What are the missing pieces they need to research next? What keywords can you suggest, based on what they’ve written?
Focusing on the U.S is a good place to start, but "when" is a little too broad still, as in WHEN (what year, i.e when video games were created, when kids are exposed to technology etc..). In my opinion, the targeted grouping could be teenagers grade 1-12. Doing so would allow the the researcher to have a wider target to compare and contrast the effects. I would suggest to look up these keywords: socialization, obsession, potential cognitive development.
III. Audience
Do you think your partner has thought through the counterargument deeply and thoroughly enough? Can you suggest other counterarguments that they might not have written? If they don’t have a strong enough argument to argue against yet, how can you help them strengthen their thesis?
The target audience that the researcher is aiming at is quite interesting when an obsessed video gamer actually takes time to read an article that goes against their point of view. The counter argument needs to be from these addicted gamers, such as video games can't be addicted. A professional gamer can argue that gaming is there daily job, is their financial source. Some professional gamers starts as young as 14,15 years old.
Multimodality
What images do you think would be most convincing for your partner to utilize? Why?
The graph of the corrrelation between academic results vs time spent on gaming can be convincing, but there are other factors that effect their studying results, such as family condition, health condition, etc.. Maybe the researcher can provide a before and after head shot of a student before playing games and 3 months, 6 months after playing games.
Questions
What is your partner struggling with? What suggestions can you offer them?
The researcher (you) might find that there are a lot of counter argument from an opposing person, therefore, looking for the best evidence to persuade the audience can be challenging. But you can use pathos, logos and framing method to provide the best argument.
