As before, we prepared for this writing assignment by first annotating helpful articles that explained how we would write an argumentative essay and we also then annotated model text that we later used for imitation.

It was first regarding the building blocks of an argumentative essay and how to organize it. Tips on how to analyze, and properly describe evidence.

Then it went on to reading and annotating essays written by people expressing stereotypes they wanted debunked. Using those essay we were to pull the techniques and apply them to our own essay.

- John Paul Brammer's "Im From a Mexican Family Stop Expecting Me to Eat "Authentic" Food"

Both those pieces were vital in my progress of writing this essay, I felt that I didn't fully grasp the concept that we were to not use outside sources.

The piece by Anne Mary Barry-Jester, really broke down the misconception behind MSG and how it was rooted in racism. It very well displayed evidence from personal stories and research to talk about how Msg is not bad for you.

The piece by John Brammer also was very well written. He explained how even though he is Mexican, it does not mean all he eats or searches for when he eats is 'authentic". He explained that the pressure or expectation of him and his family to be very Mexican is just not right and this essay helped me when it came down to writing my own essays.
