Our first imitation exercise for the "You're Wrong About" Essay was to take a stereotype and describe why it is wrong, by using 3 different strategies that Carman and Kapadia used.

I wrote about the misconception around the state of the Middle East. The three techniques I tried to imitate was explaining and defining a word the same way Carman did. I also used multiple pieces of evidence analyzing them in a way that was was to grasp. I also attempted to imitate the style of Carman's essay. A not overly formal piece but one that uses anecdotes and personal stories as evidence.

The next exercise was to write a discussion post, and compose rough versions of Draft 2 body paragraphs. We were to imitate three different ways the model texts have integrated their sources.

For this exercise I was brainstorming ways to use the model text as evidence in my own essay. Even though I was not writing about a food stereotype in my essay, I still used loose claims from these pieces to support my own. This was probably the first time I did such a thing with my writing and I am very excited to see how far I've come as a writer.
