My specific audience is the group of people who live in the midwest who do not understand the real threat that climate change has on our own country's great lakes. My purpose is to educate these people on these threats and what they can do to help themselves, the people around them, the rest of the country, as well as the entire world. I would like to persuade my audience by informing them of the recent changes that the great lakes have been going through. I also used facts about the surrounding areas affected by them as well as an interview with a resident who is directly affected by climate change. My message is that everyone should learn some knowledge about how to fight climate change so we can all do our part in saving our planet. Just the world governments themselves are not enough to save our planet from the threats of climate change. We must all work together and do our part in fixing our planet. Normal, everyday people just like you and me must do our part in making our planet survive.

For the content of my multi-modal climate story, I begin with a title in bold called "Climate Change and the Great Lakes", which tell the audience the exact area of focus here but also introduces them to the much broader topic of climate change. I open up with a small paragraph explaining the area of the great lakes for people who aren't very familiar with them, giving everyone reading the multimodal climate story a clear picture of what is being affected. I show a map of the five great lakes (Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie, and Ontario) as well as the surrounding states to give people who live in those areas an image that they are very close to this problem. I then go on to talk about what is going on as well as show a graphic of the changes that our great lakes, as well as the surrounding states, are going through. I then introduce my grandmother, Sara Bowers. I do this in order to connect with the reader through emotions and empathy. Making them see that even if they aren't affected, everyday people are. I also purposefully used a picture of her with my younger half-brother to show that future generations are also affected by this problem. I give a summary of what she and I talked about as I didn't record it. I then got more personal with people who live in the area and around the country. Stating facts that I got from online sources such as perserve.nature.org and an article by the Environmental Law & Policy Center. I then finished up by informing the audience of things they can do to help the cause.

I include three resources at the end that the audience can look into and read more about the problem as well as other problems that climate change causes. Here the audience can also donate to help the cause to help spread the word and fund climate change projects.
