In passage option one from "The Grandchild Paradox", "She joking brah... Maybe you're serious after all", the author uses the convention "solutions presented concern the 'little guy', individuals or small communities". I chose this because our protagonist gives Stuart the question " What can I give him? What can I leave for him if there’s so little for us right now?" (88). There isn't necessarily a solution in this statement, but he is trying to get an answer about his potential future child about what kind of life will he be living. There is so little that our protagonist has been given, what could he possibly leave behind for his future son/daughter. "He looks at me like I’m crazy. He wants to joke, but sees the upset in my eyes" (88). This shows the seriousness of our protagonist. He is truly worried about his son's future life, he doesn't want his son and grandson to look at him the same way he looks at the Tops. He is trying to find a solution to this problem with consideration to the literal "little guy" being his potential future son.
