Draft 1:

As a human race we have learned to adapt to our environments, but nonetheless we have taught our literary prose to adapt to our culture. With our always changing world and perceptions of this world, we have caused our fairy tales to evolve to fit our corresponding time era and life style. Fairy tales possess the virtue to empower the human mind wit meaningful lessons and cultivate a foundation of morals that can help shape who we are. However, these dubious benefits have been altered over the course of time that patterns of discrepancies are notorious to the common people. Fairy tales have traveled from word of mouth to recorded documents, repeating this circular cycle. With this changing tales, many version have also flourished. Although this myriad of version should accumulate to the diversity of fairy tales, some of them appeared to be swept under the rug, such is the case with Cinderella and the Catskin tale types.

Draft 2:

There is no greater satisfaction knowing that as human race we have learned to adapt to our environments. Nonetheless, we have also caused stagnant factors to change and adapt to us, just as fairy tales. With our always-changing world and perceptions, we have forced generations-old fairy tales to evolve and germane in correspondence to our time and our view. But we can attribute to our eagerness of making everything ours and relevant to us that we, as a cultural race, have saved fairy tales from extinction. Just as we apply the idea of “survival of the fittest” to many things, our evolutionary ideologies have encouraged fairy tales to strive for their survival. However the constant fight against extinction has blinded fairy tales from their true roots and their genuine origin.

Draft 3:

It is evident that authors are confined to specific time eras that are influenced by sociopolitical environments and in order to speak about those environments, they embed specific ideas in their works. This is the case with Grimm brothers which emphasize the beliefs and values that are tightly held together by a male supremacy society. As explained by Donald Haase, “The tales were thought to contain the scattered fragments of ancient Germanic myth, which –when collected—would provide the German people with a magic mirror in which they could discern and thus reassert their national identity” (Tatar 355). Specific ideas such as sexism and gender roles manages to seep in through the pages of Cinderella and describe the roles of females in the early 19th century. As a normal instinct, the brothers Grimm attempted to shape Cinderella in a way in which they could fulfill their audience’s cultural and political views. So in order to address their audience, the brothers Grimm incorporated the ideologies of femininity to reflect the woman’s role in society and her particular role in the household. Cinderella reflects such ideology through her passive and submissive nature which speaks to us today in ways that motivate us to change such perception of women and develop a voice to speak against inequality.

This introductory paragraphs also serve as an example of how my writing progressed to a better state of awareness. For instance, draft 3 speaks more on cultural context and how those cultural ideas were incorporated in Cinderella. But just as I mention in the introduction, my analysis was not as deep. Also, this is adds as evidence of how i had to throw ideas away, like all the "As a human race we have learned to adapt to our environments, but nonetheless we have taught our literary prose to adapt to our culture." This idea was carried on throughout my intro but it did not fit in the entirety of essay, so by getting rid of it, I demonstrate the ability of recognizing when something does not work. For future reference, I will look at specific ideas, edit them, reinvent them, reestablish them, or just get rid of them.
